Air Fryer French Fries

Crispy fries with a fraction of the oil. Your air fryer was built for this. If you bought an air fryer and only use it for fries, you've still justified the purchase. These come out genuinely crispy —

Ingredients

  • 3 large russet potatoes
  • cold water for soaking
  • cooking spray (olive or avocado oil)
  • salt
  • optional seasonings (garlic powder
  • paprika
  • Old Bay
  • Parmesan)

Method

Step 1: Cut and soak
  1. Cut potatoes into 1/4-inch sticks. Soak in cold water for at least 30 minutes. Drain and pat completely dry with paper towels — this is the most important step. Wet fries steam instead of crisp.
Step 2: Season and spray
  1. Toss the dry fries with a light spray of oil and your seasonings. Don't drown them in oil — a light, even coating is all you need.
Step 3: Air fry
  1. Arrange in a single layer — don't stack or overcrowd. Cook at 400°F for 15-18 minutes, shaking the basket every 5 minutes. They're done when golden brown and crispy on the edges.
